Project Description

The Portland-Milwaukie Light Rail Project was the east segment that started at the Willamette River Transit and stretched 6.2 miles of LRT track to the Park Avenue Terminus. This project added to the extensive Light Rail System TriMet has developed in the Tri-County Metropolitan area. On this project, Cascade Bridge was a Subcontractor to Stacy and Witbeck, Inc. to construct the Tillamook Bridge Structure which spanned over existing railroad tracks along this segment.

The Tillamook Bridge was a 1,218 ft., seven-span precast/prestressed girder and cast-in-place box girder bridge, founded on 9’ diameter drilled shafts for the Piers and PP18 X 0.500 piling for the Abutments (driven to 900 kip and 1,017 kip nominal resistance). The superstructure was a cast-in-place deck with duct bank/sidewalk and maintenance railing. In order to construct the box girder section, Cascade Bridge erected over 610,000 lbs. of falsework steel that included skewed sections crossing the existing tracks. Cascade Bridge also construction over 48,000 SF of MSE walls for the approaches.
